HEARST MAGAZINES EVENTS PRIVACY NOTICE

INTRODUCTION
This privacy notice (“Privacy Notice”) describes how Hearst Magazine Media, Inc. or Hearst Autos, Inc., as applicable (referred to in this Privacy Notice as “we”, “us”, “our” and “Hearst”) collects and processes information about you, how we use, share and protect the information, and the rights you may have in relation to this information. This Privacy Notice applies when you use a site or app (each a “Site”) promoting a Hearst brand or magazines event or experience (each an “Event”) linking to this Privacy Notice, including when you submit an application, register and/or purchase a ticket for an Event. In addition, the Event Sites may be made available to sponsors, business partners and/or vendors (collectively, “Vendors”) in order to enable them to participate (e.g., food vendor) or register for an Event. Participation by attendees and Vendors in any Event is voluntary.
This Privacy Notice describes the privacy practices of Hearst only and does not cover the practices of other companies that may be involved in the Event (including Vendors). For information about our privacy practices in relation to the Hearst magazines websites, mobile apps and other digital services, as well as in relation to any subscriptions you may have to Hearst publications, please see the Privacy Notice at www.hearst.com/newsroom/us-magazines-privacy-notice .
A. WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION WE OBTAIN
In connection with the promotion and administration of Events through our Sites, we obtain various types of information about you. This may include personal information that directly identifies you as well as information such as online identifiers and cookie data, which may indirectly identify you. The information we obtain generally consists of information (i) about attendees; (ii) about Vendors; (iii) automatically collected about attendees and Vendors on the Site; and/or (iv) we obtain from other sources.
1. Personal Information Obtained About Attendees
To participate in an Event as an attendee, you may be required to provide certain information about yourself or others depending on the Event. For example, when you register and/or purchase a ticket for an Event through a Site, you are required to provide personal information about yourself to complete your registration and/or ticket purchase. You may not be eligible to participate in an Event if you do not provide the requested information. The information we obtain will depend on each Event and may include details such as:
Contact information (e.g., name, email address, phone, postal address and/or sign in information if you use a third-party sign in such as Facebook or Google);
Payment information (e.g., payment card details and billing address);
Other information relevant to the Event such as dietary restrictions, age, driver’s license or insurance information; and
Comments, photos, videos and other content or information you choose to share with us, submit to us or is taken during an Event.
Do not give us personal information about others unless you are authorized or have their consent to do so. We will use their personal information for the purposes described in this Privacy Notice.
To process your participation, registration and/or ticket purchase in an Event, Hearst may use platforms and services offered by third parties such as EventBrite or SurveyMonkey. Hearst does not control how these entities may use the personal information they collect from or about you in connection with your participation or registration in an Event. These entities typically provide a link to their applicable privacy notice and terms of use and we encourage you to review such notices and terms in order to understand how they may use your personal information, including to send you emails, and what rights you may have with respect to such information.
2. Personal Information Obtained About Vendors
To participate in an Event as a Vendor, you will be required to provide certain information about you and/or your organization. You may not be considered for an Event if you do not provide the requested information. The information we obtain will depend on each Event and may include details such as:
Contact information (e.g., name, email address, phone, postal address and/or sign in information if you use a third-party sign in such as Facebook or Google);
Organization information (e.g., business, name, type, website URL or social media page);
Vendor portal credentials (if applicable);
Payment information (e.g., payment card details and billing address);
Other information you submit as part of the Vendor application or vetting process; and
Comments, photos, videos and other content or information you choose to share with us, submit to us or is taken during an Event.
3. Information Automatically Collected About Attendees and Vendors on the Site
A Site automatically logs certain information about your visits to the Site, the number and frequency of users, technical information about browsers and devices used to access the Site, and information about crashes or other technical issues. In addition, we and third parties automatically collect certain information through automated means about your activities over time across the Site as well as across third-party sites, apps or other media. The tools that collect this information vary depending on the Site and include technologies such as cookies, web beacons, tags, scripts, pixels, local shared objects (including HTML5 cookies), software development kits (“SDKs”) and other technologies (collectively, “Cookies”). The information automatically collected may include the following:
Information about your computer, device, browser and operating system (e.g., type, model, or version);
Internet protocol (IP) address, which can be used to derive your general geographic area (e.g., city and country);
Information about your activities on the Site, including clickstream data that reflect the content you have accessed, clicked on, or viewed;
Information about how you accessed the Site, including details about websites or apps visited immediately before or after accessing the Site;
Demographic, interests and household information; and/or
Information about your interactions with email messages and other communications, such as whether you opened or forwarded the email or clicked on links contained in the email.

4. Information we obtain from other sources
We may receive information about you from other sources and it may be combined with the information we have about you. For example, we may obtain information from our affiliates and subsidiaries, from business partners and from third-party data providers including social media platforms.
B. HOW WE USE PERSONAL INFORMATION WE OBTAIN
We use your personal information:
1. To administer your participation in an Event and to make the Site available to you. This includes:
Processing your participation, registration and/or ticket purchase for and Event;
Maintaining, operating, improving and developing the Sites;
Enhancing the quality and your overall experience with the Events and Sites; and
Measuring and optimizing usage, reliability and performance, analyzing trends, and supporting our operations (e.g., for accounting, auditing, financial, legal or other purposes).
2. To communicate with you. This includes:
Sending you informational messages about your participation in an Event (e.g., to confirm your participation or notify you of changes to an Event);
Responding to your questions or addressing your requests; and
Communicating with you about other Event(s) which may be of interest to you as well as other initiatives, or sending you surveys or feedback requests.
3. For advertising and marketing purposes. We may use your information for the following purposes:
Developing, managing and conducting advertising and marketing campaigns, promotions and offers, including about Hearst’s Events and Hearst magazines content, products and services or third-parties’ content, products, services and other initiatives;
Interest-based advertising. We and third parties may collect information about your online activities to provide you with advertising tailored to your interests. You may see certain ads on other websites because we or third parties participate in advertising networks. Ad networks track your online activities over time and across different browsers and devices you may use by collecting information through automated means, including through the use of Cookies. The information ad networks may collect includes information about your visits to websites that participate in the relevant advertising networks, such as the pages, advertisements or videos you view and the actions you take on the websites. This data collection may take place both on our website and on third-party websites or apps that participate in ad networks. This process allows us and third parties to deliver more tailored advertising and helps us track the effectiveness of our marketing efforts. We adhere to the Self-Regulatory Principles for Online Behavioral Advertising developed by the Digital Advertising Alliance.
Cross-device linking. If you access a Site from multiple browsers or devices, we, our service providers and third parties may try to establish connections among and link the different browsers and devices you use to access a Site. This helps us provide you with a seamless experience across the browsers and devices you use and serve you with more relevant content; and
Analyzing and measuring the performance, effectiveness and reach of Hearst’s or third parties’ advertising and marketing initiatives.
4. To protect our rights or the rights of others. This includes:
Detecting, preventing and responding to fraud or potentially illegal activities, misuse of a Site, intellectual property infringement or other violations of law, this Privacy Notice, our Terms of Use, other Hearst policies, or applicable terms or agreements;
Performing audits, assessments and testing or troubleshooting activities;
Backing up our systems (including for disaster recovery purposes) and enhancing the overall security of a Site; or
Complying with and enforcing applicable industry and legal requirements (including legal process such as court orders, warrants or subpoenas) and fulfilling contractual obligations.
C. WITH WHOM WE SHARE PERSONAL INFORMATION
We share the personal information we obtain with:
1. Affiliates and Subsidiaries. We work closely with affiliates and subsidiaries within the Hearst family of companies, including Hearst magazine brands, with whom we share your information as necessary or appropriate to operate the Events and Sites. We also share research and other insights developed for editorial and other purposes. Depending on the Event, we may also share the information you provide in connection with your participation in an Event, including feedback, responses and comments with our affiliates and subsidiaries.
2. Service Providers. In connection with the operation of the Events and Sites, we engage various third parties to provide services or handle transactions on our behalf, such as website hosting, email distribution, payment processing, cloud computing, analytics, ad serving, promotions or events coordination. These service providers use the information we provide to them as necessary or appropriate for the performance of their services.
3. Advertisers, Advertising-and Marketing-Related Service Providers and Partners. Depending on the Event, we may provide your information to sponsors, vendors, advertisers, advertising agencies, ad networks, ad exchanges, marketing businesses, technology vendors and other entities that create, deliver and assess advertising or marketing campaigns, including interest-based ads.
4. Social Media Platforms. If you interact with social media widgets or tools (such as Facebook or Google sign in), share content using social media share buttons, or access features of a Site that contains content or features provided by Social Media Platforms, the relevant Social Media Platforms may collect information about you. We encourage you to review the privacy policy or notices published by the Social Media Platforms that you engage with as we are not responsible for their privacy practices.
5. Business Partners. In certain circumstances we provide your information to business partners including, without limitation, partners whose products may be sponsored at an Event (such as Vendors). For example, we may share your contact information with our business partners so they can send you offers about their products and services. The participation of a business partner in a particular Event is communicated to you by the inclusion of the products, services or branding of the relevant business partner.
6. Other Parties When Required by Law or As Necessary to Protect Our Rights. We share your information as we believe is necessary or appropriate to protect, enforce, or defend our legal rights, the privacy or safety of our employees, participants or other individuals and entities, or to comply with or enforce applicable industry standards, law or legal process, including responding to court orders, warrants, subpoenas and other requests from public and government authorities.
7. Corporate Transactions. We may transfer any of the information we have about you to proceed with the consideration, negotiation, or completion of a sale or transfer of all or a portion of our business or assets to a third party, such as in the event of a merger, acquisition or other disposition, or in connection with a bankruptcy reorganization, dissolution, or liquidation.
8. With Your Consent or Otherwise at Your Direction. In addition, we share your information with third parties when you consent to or request such sharing.
D. YOUR CHOICES, INCLUDING MARKETING AND INTEREST-BASED ADVERTISING
Direct Marketing Opt-Outs
Email marketing. You may opt out of receiving marketing or promotional emails related to the Event from Hearst by clicking on the “unsubscribe” link contained in such emails. Please keep in mind that if you opt out of receiving marketing or promotional emails, we may still send you transactional emails or other communications relating to your participation in an Event (e.g., to confirm your participation or to inform you of changes to an Event).
Co-Branded, Co-Sponsored or Cross-Promotional Offerings. If you choose to participate in a co-branded, co-sponsored or cross-promotional offering, the brand, sponsor or other third party involved in that offering may use your information for its own purposes, including advertising and marketing purposes. You must contact the relevant third party directly to exercise your opt out choices with respect to such party’s use of your information.
Interest-Based Ads Opt-Outs. To learn more about your rights in relation to interest-based advertising on your browser, including your choice to opt out, you can follow the instructions provided by the Digital Advertising Alliance (“DAA”) at https://optout.aboutads.info and/or the Network Advertising Initiative (“NAI”) at http://optout.networkadvertising.org to place an opt-out cookie on your browser. These opt-out cookies enable you to block participating companies from installing future cookies on your computer or browser.
E. DO NOT TRACK
Hearst does not currently take steps to respond to browsers “Do Not Track” signals as no uniform standard to respond to such signals has been developed at this time.
F. HOW WE PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
We use a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, while we make reasonable efforts to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
G. NON-U.S. VISITORS
We operate the Events and Sites from the United States. The Events and Sites are directed to U.S. consumers. Any information we obtain about you in connection with your submission of application or participation in an Event and Site may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries.
H. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY RIGHTS
The Sites are not intended to be used by children under the age of 13. Hearst does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you learn that a child under the age of 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us as indicated in the “Contact Us” section below.
I. LINKS TO THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES, MOBILE APPS OR OTHER SERVICES
The Site may contain links to websites, mobile apps or other services operated by companies not affiliated with Hearst. You may be able to register on the Site or create an account for an Event using a social media login, such as Facebook or Google login. In such cases, we may collect, use, disclose, transfer and store information related to your account with such third party services in accordance with this Privacy Notice. Similarly, if you “Like” or “follow” us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or other social media sites, we may collect some information about you. In addition, offerings related to the Events may be made available to you through third-party platforms (such as app stores or social media platforms) or other channels. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any non-Hearst operated websites, mobile apps or other services and channels, and we encourage you to review the privacy policies or notices published by relevant third parties.
J. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY NOTICE
We update this Privacy Notice from time to time to reflect changes in our privacy practices or applicable laws. In accordance with applicable law, we may make such changes without prior notice. We will publish the updated version on the Sites and indicate at the top of the Privacy Notice when it was most recently updated. Your participation in an Event and visits to a Site will be governed by the then-current version of the Privacy Notice.

Your California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”) Rights
Residents of California may have the following rights:
1. Right to access your personal information. You may request to access the categories and specific pieces of personal information that we collected about you through our Event(s) and/or Site(s).
2. Right to deletion. Subject to certain exceptions, you may ask us to delete the personal information we collected about you through our Event(s) and/or Site(s).
3. Right to disclosure. You may request to receive additional details about the sources from which we collect information, the reasons we collect and share information, and the types of third parties with which we share the personal information we collected about you through our Event(s) and/or Site(s).
4. Right to opt out of sales. Under the CCPA, certain types of sharing of personal information may constitute a “sale” of your personal information. Depending on the Event in which you choose to participate, you may be asked to share your personal information with an Event Vendor or other third party. If you choose to do so, then you direct Hearst to share your information with the Vendor or third party. This type of sharing does not constitute a “sale” of your personal information by Hearst. To opt out of the use of your information for interest-based advertising, please use the opt outs included in the Interest-Based Ads section above. If you reengage with us after opting out of the “sale” of your personal information, such as by signing up for a newsletter, your personal information will be collected and used in accordance with this Privacy Notice.
5. Right to be free from discrimination. You may exercise any of the above rights without fear of being denied goods or services.

Please note that you will need to contact directly the Vendors or other third party with whom you shared your personal information in connection with your participation at an Event to exercise your California privacy rights with respect to the personal information they maintain about you, including your right to opt out of the “sale” of your personal information.
Minors
We do not knowingly collect or disclose personal information of minors under the age of 16, without affirmative authorization.
Your Shine the Light California Rights (CA Civil Code § 1798.83)
Residents of California may request a list of third parties to which certain personal information (as defined by applicable California law) obtained through our Events and/or Sites was disclosed by Hearst during the preceding year for those third parties’ direct marketing purposes. If you are a California resident and want such a list, please contact us at Office of General Counsel, Attn: Privacy, 300 West 57th Street, New York, NY 10019. For such requests, you must put the statement “Your California Privacy Rights” in the body of your request, as well as your name, street address, city, state, and zip code. In your request, you need to attest to the fact that you are a California resident and provide a current California address for our response. Please also indicate in your request the name of the Event or Site to which your request applies. Please note that we will not accept requests via the telephone, email, or by facsimile, and we are not responsible for notices that are not labeled or sent properly, or that do not have complete information.
